Police arrested a Seat Pleasant man in the carjacking of a man and his two small children in Wheaton.

On June 22, a gunman demanded the car keys from a man at the Westfield Shopping Mall. The victim removed his children from their car seats first, before the gunman stole it.

Two days later, a gunman tried to carjack another vehicle near George Mason University, but was unable to start the engine. The gunman drove away but the victim followed, grabbing the attention of a Virginia state trooper. The gunman jumped from the vehicle and fled. Police discovered that that vehicle was the same one stolen from Wheaton, obtained evidence from it and were able to track down and arrest 23-year-old Tyrone Collington Jr.
