Besides being the United States' longest serving senator, the late Robert Byrd also was a recording artist. Back in 1978 Byrd, recorded a bluegrass album called "Mountain Fiddler," with Country Gentlemen band members Doyle Lawson on guitar, James Bailey on banjo and Spider Gilliam on bass. Byrd was the fiddler. Virginia-based record label Country Records plans to re-release the album. The project has already been under way for 18 months, according to the Associated Press. The album will be out July 27.
