Two American Olympic swimmers, Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz, were taken off their flight from Rio de Janeiro to the U.S. on Wednesday after a Brazilian judge issued an order preventing them from leaving the country before their robbery case was resolved, United States Olympic officials said late Wednesday.

"You can see the supposed victims arriving without signs of being physically or psychologically shaken, even joking amongst themselves," Judge Keyla Blanc de Cnop said in a statement, referring to video of the swimmers returning to the Olympic Village after the party.

On Tuesday, Rio police said they had insufficient evidence to confirm four swimmers' claim they were robbed at gunpoint by fake police while leaving a party at the French house.

One of the swimmers, Ryan Lochte, left Brazil before the judge handed down the order. As of Wednesday night, it is unclear whether Feigen is still in Brazil or had returned home to the U.S.

The swimmers admitted they were intoxicated at the time of the incident over the weekend and blamed their drunken state for the lack of details they were able to provide to detectives about the cab they were in or where the robbery took place.

Lochte's lawyer, Jeff Ostrow, denounced claims by Brazilian officials that the athletes made up the crime.

"The country has a dark cloud over it for a million and one reasons, from their economy to their crime to their management of the Olympics," Ostrow told the New York Times. "My client has cooperated thoroughly with the Brazilian authorities and stands behind his statement."
