Border Patrol agents uncovered more than $1 million hidden in a vehicle's gas tank during a standard inspection at the Laredo Port of Entry in Texas. But agents didn't find cash. Instead, they stumbled upon a fuel tank with 81 pounds of liquid methamphetamine, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection press release.

During a routine check on March 31, officers searching a 2000 Ford F-150 pickup truck with canine and non-intrusive imaging resources discovered the liquid meth in the gas tank.

"Our officers continue to maintain strict vigilance while facilitating the flow of lawful traffic and yet again in furtherance of our border security mission, our frontline CBP officers have seized a significant quantity of liquid methamphetamine," Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry, said.

The driver, a 24-year-old U.S. male citizen, was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations for further questioning.
