Firefighters found a body in a car while working a garage fire in Capitol Hill, authorities said. D.C. police and fire investigators are on the scene investigating.

"There's a lot to sort out," said D.C. fire spokesman Pete Piringer, "but the lead theory is the car crashed through the garage and was found on fire."

Around 5 a.m., firefighters got a call for a garage fire in the 800 block of A Street SE. Rescue crews found the attached garage of a two-and-a-half story townhouse fully engulfed. Homeowners told firefighters that everyone in the townhouse had been accounted for, Piringer said. While putting the blaze, firefighters found a dead adult in the car.
