HELENA, Mont. (AP) — State wildlife officials have captured and euthanized a cinnamon-colored black bear that entered a tent and ate food off a picnic table at a Blackfoot River fishing access site west of Ovando

Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials on Tuesday closed the campground at the Russell Gates fishing access site. The bear was captured Wednesday morning and the temporary closure was lifted.

Bear management specialist Jamie Jonkel says the 3- or 4-year-old female weighed about 150 pounds and did not have any cubs.

Jonkel says the bear had eaten food from a picnic table in the presence of people about a week ago. Wildlife officials say despite efforts to encourage the public to keep clean campsites and store food where the bear couldn't get at it, the bear continued to frequent the campground. No one was injured.
