Sekou Biddle picked up more endorsements heading into the D.C. Democratic State Committee's selection of an at-large council member Thursday night to fill the seat vacated by Kwame Brown when he became D.C. Council Chairman.

Biddle, a Ward 4 Board of Education member, and former Councilman Vince Orange are the leading contenders for votes among the 83-member state committee. The selection will fill the seat vacated by Brown until D.C. voters chose a permanent replacement in a special election in April.

Orange has repeatedly said he has enough votes to win. But this week Biddle received Brown's backing and support from a handful of other councilmembers. Biddle also received an endorsement from Lorraine Greene, a top advisor to Mayor Vince Gray

Biddle now also has the support of Charles Allen, a voting state committee member and president of the Ward 6 Democrats (he's also Ward 6 Councilman Tommy Wells' chief of staff). Allen's support brings to six of the number of Ward 6 Democrats who will vote for Biddle Thursday.
