A D.C. Councilman has renewed his quest to have a park in Northwest Washington named after the president.
Ward 1 Councilman Jim Graham's first attempt in July 2009 to rename Girard Park as "Barack Hussein Obama Park" never gained traction. Obama typically tries to leave his middle name out of public discourse, but Graham believes its inclusion reflects the diversity of the Columbia Heights neighborhood that houses the park.
On Tuesday, Graham reintroduced the name-change bill. It's hard to say if he will gather the six other votes on the council that he'll need for the name change this time.
