On Morning Joe this morning, David Axelrod signaled his “great affection and respect” for the gaffe-prone Vice President, noting that Biden did “very very well” implementing the Stimulus.

“I think he’s been a great Vice President.” Axelrod said. “He’s taken on a lot of tough assignments for our administration, from administering the recovery act and he did it very, very well, though being the point person on the Iraq war.”

As my colleague Sean Higgins reported last month, Obama’s advisors said in 2009 stimulus would cause unemployment to drop below 6 percent by 2012.

Unemployment last month, however, is at 8.3 percent.
