The Arlington County Police Department will receive a federal grant for more than $180,000 to help train and equip the county’s SWAT unit.

The grant, paid for by the Urban Area Security Initiative, will also help improve cooperation between tactical teams across the region, according to The Gazette.

The Montgomery County Police Department will oversee the distribution of the $1.6 million grant to police departments in jurisdictions throughout the region, including Prince George’ County, Fairfax County, the Maryland and Virginia state police and the Metropolitan Police for the District of Columbia.
