A man wanted on rape charges for two separate attacks in Arlington County has turned himself in, police said.

Arlington County police said 36-year-old Ronald P. Berton turned himself in Sunday evening, two days after authorities distributed his photo and said Berton had been linked through DNA to assaults in 2010 and 2008.

Police allege that Berton entered an apartment on the 2500 block of N. 20th Street on Sept. 26 through an unlocked door, sexually assaulted a woman who was sleeping in the apartment, then stole items before fleeing.

DNA evidence links him to a similar incident on the 2100 block of N. 18th Street in September 2008, police said. In that case, police said, Berton allegedly woke up a sleeping woman, threatened her with a large knife and repeatedly exposed himself to her.
