Devin Hicks, owner of Westover Market in Arlington, may be turning from blue to red thanks to the county’s zoning laws.
Hicks has been trying to get the Market’s beer garden, a popular neighborhood venue for drinks and live music, into compliance with the county’s zoning ordinances ever since neighbors called the police with noise complaints in August.
Zoning officials sent to investigate Westover Market found a laundry list of problems that forced Hicks to invest several thousand dollars as he tries to come into compliance with Arlington law.
Thanks to an outpouring of support, Hicks isn’t giving up his effort to keep the beer garden and live music going. But he told the Falls Church News Press that the county’s zoning officials “are doing their best to make me a Republican.”
