A man wielding a machete and shouting "Allahu Akbar" attacked and wounded two police officers in the Belgian city of Charleroi. One of the officers was reportedly a female, who was seriously hurt with cuts to the face.

Both officers were women. One was seriously hurt with injuries to the face. The other officer is said to have not been badly harmed.

A third police officer shot and wounded the attacker, who later died. The attack occurred outside of the city's main police station.

The assault is the latest in a recent series of attacks that have occurred across Europe, particularly in Belgium, France and Germany.
