CNN anchor Anderson Cooper did not push back on a guest on his show when she used an expletive normally not heard on cable news, especially when referring prospective presidential candidates.

Republican strategist Liz Mair, who worked briefly on Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's presidential campaign, called GOP nominee Donald Trump a "loud-mouthed dick" Wednesday during a live segment on CNN during the 8 p.m. ET hour.

She made the comment during a discussion about whether the GOP could "rein" in Trump, whose campaign is marked by his bombast and blunt personality.

Cooper did not remark on the way Mair described Trump, and only continued on to ask her if it's possible to vote for a third party candidate without ensuring Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is elected.

A spokesperson for CNN did not return a request for comment from the Washington Examiner on Thursday.

After the segment aired, Mair wrote on Twitter, "Yes, I just said 'dick' live on CNN," with the hashtag "#SorryNotSorry."

Back in 2011, a similar situation played out on MSNBC when political commentator Mark Halperin referred to President Obama as a "dick." However, he was suspended by MSNBC from appearing on its program.
