CHANTILLY, Va. (AP) — A Lufthansa jet and a United Express commuter plane suffered minor damage after the jet's wing clipped the tail section of the commuter plane on a taxiway at Dulles International Airport.
Airport spokeswoman Kimberly Gibbs said no injuries were reported, and the airport continued normal operations. The accident occurred around 3:20 p.m. Friday.
Gibbs estimated the planes were probably traveling only a few miles an hour when they made contact.
The Lufthansa jet was on the taxiway out preparing for a departure to Frankfurt.
The United Express plane had arrived from Pittsburgh. Pinnacle Airlines, which was operating the commuter flight, told WJLA-TV in Washington that all 68 passengers deplaned safely and that the airline is investigating the incident.
