Two men have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a June stabbing death in Silver Spring.

Montgomery County police say 32-year-old Jose Juan Torres-Benitez, who is also known as Juan Ramos-Torres, and 30-year-old Edgar A. Romero Ventura killed Felipe Flores Giron in an alley near Giron's apartment on the 800 block of University Boulevard East.

Police spokeswoman Lucille Baur said at least one of the suspects knew the victim and they had a verbal argument the evening of June 6. That escalated into a fatal stabbing in the early morning hours of June 7, she said.

Baur said she didn't know how the men knew each other.

Both suspects are being held without bond at the Montgomery County Detention Center.
