PALMER PARK, Md. (AP) — Prince George's County police have charged a man with auto theft in connection with a pursuit that led to the death of a county officer.

Police say 25-year-old Kenneth Mitchell of Washington was an occupant of a car that two officers were chasing on Interstate 95 in Beltsville on Monday afternoon. The officers' car ran off the highway and crashed into a ditch, and 23-year-old officer Adrian Morris was killed.

Police also said Wednesday that the second occupant, 23-year-old Kevon Neal of Fort Washington, has been charged in a warrant with auto theft.

Morris was a native of Kingston, Jamaica, and had been on the force for 2 ½ years.
